I’m a little late in posting this, but that’s okay. Today’s post is a short and sweet wrap-up of 2025 as well as my 2026 word of the year. Or shall I say phrase of the year…

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT 2025?
In short, we traveled a bit on a few long weekends, went camping, and bought a camper. The hubby then cleaned out, painted, and made a few improvements to said camper. We took it out a couple of times, which was fun. Be on the lookout for more of our camper life adventures and what we’ve done with our little bunkhouse camper so far.
In September, I didn’t feel so well (quite an understatement), and went to the doctor. After a month’s worth of inconclusive tests, we found out that I’m pregnant. At 41. So we’ll be welcoming a little girl to the family this year! She’s due in mid-June, which, if you’ve followed a Life on a Dime for long, you might’ve seen both our daughter and son have June birthdays. It looks like the month might have one more birthday to celebrate!
This has changed a lot of our plans, both in the short and long term. But it didn’t stop us from camping in November and December.
2026 words (phrase) OF THE YEAR
This year I’ve got more than one word to focus on; I picked a whole phrase. In 2026 I plan to rest and reset. I’ve come across this phrase a few times over the last couple of months, and it really resonated with me. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but basically, I’m tired, and everything is changing, so I’m going to use the opportunity.
Last year’s word of the year was breathe, and I’m not so sure I nailed it. I’ve definitely been in my head a lot, especially the last few months. I’m not going to beat myself up about it though. I’m just going to take things as they come, do what I can, and move on. Rest and reset.
A LIFE ON A DIME’S 2026 PLANS
We’re currently on our second week of No Spend February, and I’m already looking forward to more from scratch meals. There have been more freezer meals served in the Life on a Dime household the last few months than probably all of 2024, so this is a great excuse to flip through recipes.
Speaking of recipes, I plan to finish tweaking a few so I can post them to the recipe page! I expect there to be a few more bread recipes before the year is up, thanks to my new-to-me bread machine.
I anticipate quite the declutter next month for Minimalism in March. We’ve already gotten a head start! What else were we to do after four snow days? I had the kids go through their rooms and pull out toys and books they no longer want. Some books were donated and some will go in a box in the attic for little sister. I’ve even donated a lot of the summer dresses and cropped pants I bought at goodwill the last few years because I know I won’t be in them this summer.
You’ll see how this frugal, minimalist, eco-friendly mom prepares for another baby. Sticker shock has been a real thing for me lately! The plan is to go with second-hand, natural fabrics, and to avoid plastic where possible. We’ll see how that goes!
Here’s to a happy 2026 and all its wonderful possibilities! Be sure to follow along as a Frugal Friend of the blog for more about our frugal, non-toxic, and minimalistic life!
