5 FRUGAL & ECO-FRIENDLY MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS

 MY TOP FIVE FRUGAL & ECO-FRIENDLY PICKS TO GIVE MOM… THAT EVEN GIVE BACK!

Despite feeling that after getting through March, April was never going to end, it will! And soon! That means that May is on its way. And with May comes Mother’s Day in the United States at least. Here is my ultimate shortlist of frugal & eco-friendly Mother’s Day gifts!

These are all frugal (remember, Frugal Isn’t Cheap) and eco-friendly picks. Some of the items on this list can even give back! I’ll tell you how!

ART SKINCARE

I am a recent convert and BIG fan of the ART Skincare line from Young Living. This stuff ticks the non-toxic and eco-friendly boxes perfectly. While more expensive than most drugstore skincare, it is well priced for the quality.

I have yet to try anything from any of the YL product lines that didn’t last much longer than anticipated. There is a whole line of products in the ART system, but I will focus on the ones I am most familiar with.

ART SKINCARE SET

I am currently loving the ART Gentle Cleanser and Light Moisturizers. I plan to buy the Refreshing Toner on my may ER order. As promised to an IG follower who requested it I will get a review up as soon as I can. So if you’re reading this now I haven’t forgotten!

The second way it can give back is through the Young Living Foundation. You can choose to either round up to the next dollar or donate a specific amount to the foundation.

The Foundation works to empower individuals by “providing  wellness and education opportunities to underserved communities.” This is done through ventures like the YL Academy as well as in Ecuador, Hopef for Justice, and various disaster relief programs.

The company also gives back where needed. Utah first responders and law enforcement are currently receiving free hand sanitizer on a weekly basis and during the month of March, $233,000 was donated to Meals on Wheels.

A THOUGHTFUL, BUT INEXPENSIVE AT HOME SPA KIT

This one was fun to make! I gifted my teenage niece with a set for Christmas one year.

The overall expense really depends on the containers you use. I spent less than $20 on a small decorative set of Pioneer Woman glass jars. Most if not all the ingredients were already on hand. This is one of those frugal & eco-friendly Mother’s Day gifts that can be customized to suit the moms in your life.

How does it give back? Well, if you use the YL oils as I do you fund the efforts of the Foundation with your purchase. Even if you don’t… there’s a saying: “if mama ain’t happy ain’t nobody happy.”

Pamper your mama and help lift her spirits. It’s hard being a mom, even harder under quarantine/self-isolation.

BAMBOO LOUNGEWEAR OR PAJAMAS

Besides being super soft and comfortable, bamboo can be quite a sustainable material. It grows faster, requires less water, and no pesticides to grow when compared to cotton. A quality, sustainably manufactured bamboo material can be a great gift.

Leave Nothing Behind But Footprints (LNBF) and Tasc Performance have a good amount of affordable loungewear options available on Amazon. I for one would love a cozy set of pajamas! There are lots of frugal & eco-friendly Mother’s Day gifts to choose from here.

How does it give back? Each year LNBF recognizes an outstanding Canadian woman with the LNBF Earth Award. It is “a grant for a community initiative or project that seeks to create a more sustainable world for future generations.”

I did not see much in the way of outreach on the Tasc Performance website, but they do offer regular customers a Rewards Program, so if you like the product you have the potential to save more money there.

FRUGAL & INEXPENSIVE MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS FROM BENEVOLENCE LA

According to  Benevolence LA, each item is sustainably made with a purpose. The jewelry is all hypoallergenic, affordable, and trendy. From threader earrings, chokers, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings there are quite a few options. The company also sells 45-hour burn candles made with soy wax and therapeutic oils in a variety of scents.

If a mom in your life would love an authentic artisan-crafted Mexican serape, yoga mat, or picnic blanket they’ve also got you covered. There are lots of frugal and eco-friendly gifts to choose from with this company.

How does it give back? A few ways actually, depending on the product you buy!

A portion of the profit  from the serapes, yoga mats, and picnic blankets, as well as most of the jewelry collection, goes to support Water Mission., which provides “sustainable water systems around the world.” Proceeds from a few of the pieces that also fit children are sent to a program that holds movie screenings to hospitalized children.

The candles support Zoe International. According to the Benevolence LA lighting their candles, “helps shine a light on the darkness of human trafficking.”

FOR THE OUTDOOR MOM, A WELLY TRAVELER WATER BOTTLE

This is a sleek, sustainably made 18 oz water bottle made of bamboo and silicone. It also comes in a variety of colors, so you’re sure to find one she’ll like.

How does it give back? Welly donates a minimum of 1% of sales to various clean water projects worldwide.
