As I write this, Halloween is just over two weeks away. I’m still not ready, but I’m *mostly* there. If you’re low on ideas, or funds you’re in luck; today I’m sharing a few of my favorite Amazon finds for Spooky Season.
So we have two kids and two costumes to shop for when it comes to Spooky Season. That usually also means two jumbo bags of candy to send to their classrooms and two large pumpkins to paint or carve. Those last two are the easy part! I’d much rather spend $20 to $30 on candy than volunteer a shift at the school’s trunk or treat. Sorry, not sorry. I’ll be there with my kids while they collect some of the candy we donated.

SPOOKY SEASON COSTUME IDEA #1 (AND 2?)
This year my daughter informed me that she wanted to do coordinating costumes with a friend. Since I don’t know this friend or her parents well enough to make that a joint effort, I just decided to try to piece together matching costumes. Luckily, they picked a pretty easy costume; they want to be Thing 1 and Thing 2.
After careful searching, I was able to put together both outfits for about the cost of just one ready-made costume. Even if you don’t have Prime it qualifies for free shipping!
Two long-sleeved red shirts, one set of iron-on patches, and a matching set of tutus, arm and leg warmers, and headbands later these girls will be ready for Halloween. They just need to wear their own leggings or jeans underneath. This averaged out to about $25 per girl, which is a win in my book!
WHEN IN DOUBT, PONCHO IT OUT
If you need a quick costume, but you really aren’t in the mood to dress up head to toe or put in much effort, there are several options that revolve around a poncho. How cute is this? Honestly something like this is probably more my speed.
There are several different Halloween poncho options, and they’re mostly under $20. Nothing spooky about that price!

Need a cute, but not scary costume idea for the kids? Minions are always a hit and so easy to put together as well! Put them in a pair of overalls and a yellow shirt. Just add a set of goggles, gloves, and a yellow beanie to complete the look for less than $20!
speaking of trunk or treat…
If your Spooky Season plans inlclude hosting at a trunk or treat, you don’t have to break the bank. Yes, there are fun themed kits for your car out there for anywhere from $7 to $87, but all you really need is the candy. If both don’t fit in your budget, don’t worry about it!
Pull out the old corn hole set or use sidewalk chalk to outline a fun game. The kids are more in it for the candy anyway. If you’re really set on decorating, just bring along the mums on your front porch and the jackolanterns you carved with the kids.
