In cased you missed the memo, it’s time for Minimalism in March! Last week we focused on kitchens and baths. I posted a quick outline of what I planned to do, and just finished a while ago as I type this. For this challenge, I’m declaring each week runs Monday – Sunday. It just seems easier since challenges are posted on Monday. Now on to week two!
This week I will be focusing on the master bedroom and office space. At our house this, is one and the same, but we’re treating it as two separate areas.

minimalism in march WEEK TWO: MASTER BEDROOM
This week I plan to go through the master closet and drawers. It was hard not to jump in with this (I started the month with what I enjoy the least to get it out of the way) or get a head start, but I waited! This week’s tasks include:
- Go through clothes in the closet; donate clothes that don’t get worn, set aside anything that needs mending
- Go through the upper shelves and organize items stored there; get rid of items no longer needed/wanted
- Remove anything stained or no longer worn from drawers of clothing; separate out donate vs discard
- Refold everything to be kept and place neatly back into drawers
- Make notes of any wardrobe needs found in the process
This shouldn’t take too long, but it’s a good idea to weed through the wardrobe when the seasons change.
WEEK TWO: OFFICE SPACE
As mentioned earlier, our master bedroom and office space are in the same room. It can get a bit disorganized rather quickly. This week I plan to:
- Dust the area
- Empty the desk drawer and reorganize
- Organize the under-desk storage
- Go through and reorganize paperwork left on the desk (monthly bills, other info), shred paperwork that is no longer needed for recycling
- Make a list of items that may be needed
FOLLOW ALONG THIS MONTH WITH A LIFE ON A DIME
And don’t forget; each week a bonus challenge will be issued in the weekly newsletter along with the weekly meal plan. If you’re not a Frugal Friend of the blog, you’ll want to subscribe so you don’t miss another Meal Plan Monday.
Good luck and happy decluttering this week! I’ll see you in the next post.
