A DAY IN THE OILY LIFE

I’ve mentioned several times in my goal toward a more sustainable lifestyle and non-toxic household that using essential oils is one of my favorite ways to accomplish both goals. I also try to show that it is possible to be frugal and oily since, at a first glance, the price tag can be a bit overwhelming.

In today’s post, we’ll look at how a typical day in my oily life goes and what products/oils I have incorporated into my routine.

MY OILY MORNING ROUTINE

Every morning after I shower I apply the following oils:

Progessence Plus – I apply a drop or two to my wrists. This supports my hormonal balance.

Juvaflex – I swipe this oil across my abdomen to support normal liver and lymphatic function.

Nutmeg – Applied to the abdomen, this oil can aid in digestion. Diffuse it for some stress relief.

Bloom – I add one drop to my daily facial moisturizer for skin health.

Endoflex – This oil gets applied to my decolletage/collar bone area to support thyroid health.

I recently used my Essential Rewards to get the Feelings oil collection free and combined with my Joy oil I am trying to add the Great Day Protocol to my daily routine. This routine involves applying Valor, Joy, Harmony, and White Angelica oil blends topically and includes positive affirmations.

There are versions online that include Bible verses for each as well. It’s not a routine yet, but I’m working on it this summer. It takes about three weeks to develop the habit, so hopefully this time next month I’ll have it down.

OILY PRODUCTS I USE THROUGHOUT THE DAY

I use Thieves every single day throughout the house. I diffuse the oil, wash my hands, clean just about every surface of the house, and handwash dishes with Thieves products. If I didn’t have such sensitive teeth I’d use the toothpaste, but it doesn’t solve my sensitivity issues. I also diffuse the oil and drop a few drops in when I stem clean the floors just for the smell.

Speaking of diffusers, I use the diffuser fairly regularly. We’ve had some open window weather recently, but as I write this post I’ve been diffusing a blend I found online using Orange, White Angelica, and Joy. I love it.

To support my digestion, I take Essentialzymes-4 every day with lunch. It is definitely essential to me, as I no longer have my gallbladder. Recently, I’ve added ICP Daily to my routine. It’s a tasty, plant-derived prebiotic and fiber drink to further aid my gut health. It’s too soon to tell how effective it is, but I’ll update this post after a month or two of use.

The kids use Kid Scents line of products for my kids’ toiletry needs. They use shampoo, bath gel, and toothpaste from the line. Due to the fact that it is highly concentrated, you can dilute it to stretch your dollar further, although I do not recommend it unless you put it in a foaming pump bottle. My experience is that the kids just dump the waterier solution and it goes to waste anyway.

For tummy aches we also roll-on tummygize. I can’t really explain how it works, but I personally know it does for me. Roll it on, wait a few minutes, and feel the relief.

I also cook with dietary essential oils (you may have noticed on the recipe page), drop them in with my laundry detergent and on wool dryer balls for an added scent boost that won’t bother sensitive skin. Citrus Fresh is great as a fresh scent on laundry, and lavender is a classic with bedsheets.

And this is just a small taste. There are plenty of oils I use on a less than regular basis that are no less important. I reach for Peppermint when I have a headache before the ibuprofen, cedarwood to rub on my feet if I have trouble sleeping, and the list goes on.

OTHER NATURAL PRODUCTS I LOVE

While I am a huge believer in essential oils and essential oil products from reputable companies, I also have a smaller budget. I have a few favorite alternatives/backups that fit my budget a little better.

Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap – I love the lavender soap. It’s my go-to choice for daily shower gel.

Dr. Teal’s Hand Soap – I do not use glass in the bathrooms now, so this is a current go-to.

THE OILY LIFE IS MORE AFFORDABLE THAN YOU THINK

And it’s more affordable than ever to get started; to unlock your 24% discount you no longer have to order a starter kit. While these are a great value, they’re not exactly affordable on a budget my size or maybe yours. I started with the basic starter kit of $50. Now you simply need to place an order and set up a monthly subscription of $50.

You aren’t locked into the subscription choices either; you can still pick and choose what you order month to month. And with the range of product lines available, it’s easy to make the switch from everything to cleaning products, pantry items, to makeup and skincare.

Once you really think about it, most of us spend at least $50 on those categories combined every month anyway. Why not switch to natural, plant-based alternatives and earn rewards to redeem in free products?

If you think you’re ready to make the switch, I would love to help you! Subscribe as a new member and get started, or free to contact me at [email protected] for more information.

Until next time, stay frugal and healthy my friends!
