We love to spend time out with our family or just as a couple! Sometimes, this can end up costing quite a bit of our budget, but there are plenty of places that you can go, cheaply, that provide some fun. As it’s the month of October – and everyone is in the Halloween spirit, we have compiled some of the more affordable Halloween or Autumn related days out local to us in Harlow.
AUTUMN TRAIL
Price: £1 per leaflet
The Autumn Trail, put on by the Essex Wildlife Trust, will take you and your family on a lovely walk through the woods. The walk itself is free, but for just £1, you can grab yourself a leaflet that lets you solve clues to find seasonal, Autumnal words around the trail. It’s a fun day out that’s very easy to set up and do, specific to this time of year!
ENJOY AN AFFORDABLE DAY OUT IN HARLOW AT FOXES FARM PUMPKIN PATCH AND MAZE
Price: £5 for a family to enter, pay for pick your own pumpkins, £3 for Corn Maze.
Foxes Farm has a large pumpkin patch, perfect for finding a pumpkin or just taking some Autumn-themed pictures in a sea of orange. Along with picking a pumpkin, Foxes Farm has a corn maze that you can get into, for just £3 each. It’s a lovely pumpkin farm that also has squashes and many other veggies!
HIGHFIELD PARK APPLE DAY
Price: Free
If October means Apples for you, it’s worth taking a look at the Highfield Park Apple Day on October 4th, where there is a celebration of apples! You can purchase apples, taste some apple juice and ciders, check out craft stalls and take part in an apple juicing demonstration. There is also live music and activities for children!
HAUNTED MANOR
Price: £1
Inside the House of the Hill Toy Museum, there is a haunted manner walk that is both child friendly and slightly scary. This collection of scary, Halloween-themed items are placed all along a small, almost claustrophobic walk, which has very little light and reminds me of simplistic American haunted rides. This walk is short but well worth it for £1 and will bring a bit of spook into children, but not be too bad at all.
