FIVE BOOKS I WANT TO READ IN 2023

It’s that time of year again! For the third almost consecutive year (is that a thing?) here is a Life on a Dime’s annual bucket list of books. I first started this list in 2020, then picked it back up for 2022.

These lists include books that will educate, motivate, or help me grow as a person. While I haven’t finished all of 2022’s list, I did read at least thirty books (novels and memoirs) in 2022. As I type this new list I am working on one of said 2022 books.

One thing I try to do is go back after reading the book and provide an update with my thoughts on the read. If I changed my mind and didn’t finish the book an explanation is given.

So without further adieu, here is my 2023 Bucket List of Books.

YOU ARE A BADASS: HOW TO STOP DOUBTING YOUR GREATNESS AND START LIVING AN AWESOME LIFE, JEN SINCERO

I mean, my word of the year is confidence, right? This one’s been on my radar for a while, but I kept getting distracted with other titles. So it’s on the list this year and I look forward to reading it!

ATOMIC HABITS: AN EASY & PROVEN WAY TO BUILD GOOD HABITS & BREAK BAD ONES

This one was recommended by Hannah on Horizon, who has guest posted for a Life on a Dime. If you plan to take a trip to Sacramento, CA be sure you check it out. She actually recommended it a while back, and it’s been written down in the back of my planner for months. So it’s officially going on the list.

LIES WOMEN BELIEVE: AND THE TRUTH THAT SETS THEM FREE, PAMELA KLEIN

This book looks really interesting and has been on a list in the back of my planner for most of 2022, so of course, it’s on this year’s bucket list of books. According to the synopsis, there are certain lies Christian women believe at the root of most of their struggles.

“Many women live under a cloud of personal guilt and condemnation,” says Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. “Many are in bondage to their past. Others are gripped by fear of rejection and a longing for approval. Still others are emotional prisoners.”

This looks to be both a heavy and enlightening read.

THINGS THAT MATTER: OVERCOMING DISTRACTION TO PURSUE A MORE MEANINGFUL LIFE, JOSHUA BECKER

This author is no stranger to my to-be-read pile, or my annual blog posts on books to read. He has great insight and I was excited to see a book with new insights and stories. Minimalism isn’t just about reducing the amount of clutter physically; it also encompasses your time, emotions, and everything in between.

I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the physical clutter issue and I’m ready to tackle deeper ones in my minimalist walk.

**UPDATE** I bought this book with a gift card from Christmas and can’t wait to read it.

BUILDING A SECOND BRAIN: A PROVEN METHOD TO ORGANIZE YOUR DIGITAL LIFE AND UNLOCK YOUR CREATIVE POTENTIAL, TIAGO FORTE

This book looks so interesting. It talks about the fact that we live in a day and age where the answers to so many questions are literally at our fingertips for instant access, but that can leave us feeling overwhelmed.

Learning more about how to deal with the constant influx of knowledge and information that is the internet and use it to be more creative and fulfilled sounds very useful. I tend to approach the internet as a time drain and would love to get more use out of it than I currently do.

And I would love to be more productive with my writing here on the blog, so this is one read I’m excited about.

WHO’S READY TO READ WITH ME?

I am so excited about this year’s list and intentionally left it a bit shorter in order to further ensure I get through it this calendar year. Because I know myself and I know 30 or so other reads are going to make my list by the time the year is said and done.

What’s on your to-be-read list for this year?
