MY 2020 BUCKET LIST OF BOOKS TO READ

A LIFE ON A DIME’S 2020 BUCKET LIST OF BOOKS

I love to read. I read with my kids all the time. Early last summer I read quite a few books. Then life happened and I just sort of… stopped. I worked for months (mostly just on the treadmill at the gym) on a book that ironically is about balance. But I finally finished it!

I have decided that I am getting back into reading this year. I thought it might be fun to post my 2020 bucket list of books I plan to read. Who knows, maybe this will be a yearly post. I know it’s April, but hey!

Some books on this list are personal finance, some are related to blogging, but they’re all books I think I can learn from. I never want to stop learning! If you’ve read any or have any good suggestions to go with them please feel free to suggest them in the comments!

MY 2020 BUCKET LIST OF BOOKS… THE LIST

Here is the shortlist of books I plan to read this year.  I started this list in January and it’s just been waiting for me to find time to get around to it. Better late than never I guess!

This post may seem a little random considering my other recent posts, and that’s because it is. I needed to switch it up a bit for today and finishing this post seemed like the thing to do. I also have a toddler who isn’t going to give me much time to start a new post from scratch! So on with the books I plan to read in 2020!

HOW TO BLOG FOR PROFIT WITHOUT SELLING YOUR SOUL – RUTH SOUKUP

This book caught my eye a while back and was recently on this list of books for bloggers from Booklist Queen. I liked the looks of most of the books on the list so I pinned it! Ruth Soukup is well known in the blogging community and is a seven-figure blogger. I figure she knows a thing or two about what she’s talking about.

DIRTY GENES – DR BEN LYNCH

If you’ve read much of this blog you know that I have adopted a more natural approach to wellness. I can now proudly call myself a scrunchy mama. This is a term I recently picked up on Twitter and absolutely love! I firmly believe the old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and have worked to improve our health and immunity with a more natural approach.

If we’re starting to feel under the weather I pull out the elderberry. I always use the Thieves. But, I do appreciate modern medicine and we vaccinate. I’ve known for maybe five years now that I have a particular gene mutation that can cause certain deficiencies.

Only recently have I decided to do research on what is best for my health with this in consideration. This book was highly recommended by a health care professional and fellow oiler, so I’m adding it to my list.

***UPDATE!*** I finished this book and it was VERY enlightening. I know I have the MTHFR gene mutation and now I know more about what to do in order to make sure it doesn’t affect my overall wellbeing.

BUSINESS BOUTIQUE: A WOMAN’S GUIDE FOR MAKING MONEY DOING WHAT SHE LOVES – CHRISTY WRIGHT

If you’re familiar with the Dave Ramsey show then you’ve probably heard of Christy. This is actually a handbook to help women customize their business plan, marketing, and time management/work-life balance. I’ve been aware of it for a while, but it recently came back on my radar as something of interest. So into my bucket list of books for this year it goes!

***UPDATE!*** The audiobook is available on hoopla digital. I am listening to it now. She is a hardcore DR fan/advocate. Why did I not remember that? I couldn’t finish this one.

THE MINIMALIST HOME: A ROOM-BY-ROOM GUIDE TO A DECLUTTERED, REFOCUSED LIFE – JOSHUA BECKER

Would you believe that for all my love of minimalism I have yet to read a Joshua Becker book?! I find it hard to believe as well! I agree 100% with every snippet or quote of his I’ve seen and yet I haven’t yet made a point to check out an actual book. That is going to change this year! This bestseller is getting read.

**UPDATE!*** Back when I overestimated my bandwidth and started a book club, we did read Joshua Becker’s More of Less, which I highly recommend.

BROKE MILLENNIAL TAKES ON INVESTING: A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO LEVELING UP YOUR MONEY – ERIN LOWRY

I’ve seen this book talked about a lot within the debt-free community online since its release, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I also haven’t gotten around to understanding investments better so I’m adding it to the list. This is one personal finance area I really want to learn more about.

***UPDATE!*** I listened to the audiobook. I recommend this one as a graduation gift. It is definitely geared toward beginners. Good information.

SEO 2020: LEARN SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION WITH SMART INTERNET MARKETING STRATEGIES – ADAM CLARKE

I need to up my SEO game in 2020. While I know a little about it I definitely have a lot to learn. I plan to do that by reading. This book has great reviews. It may not be the only SEO book I read this year either.

***UPDATE!*** It is now 2022, so I’m going to look for a more current title to read now.

PRESENT OVER PERFECT: LEAVING BEHIND FRANTIC FOR A SIMPLER, MORE SOULFUL WAY OF LIVING – SHAUNA NIEQUIST

Amazon actually suggested this for me based on past reading, and it couldn’t feel more fitting than now! I was already leaning toward a slower, simpler way of life before it was basically mandated. Now  I’m just working on enjoying our circumstances more.

SO THAT WAS MY BUCKET LIST OF BOOKS FOR 2020

What’s on your must-read list? Have you read any of the books on mine? Any books you’ve read recently I should check out? By the way, all of these books are available on Kindle and you can get your first month of Kindle Unlimited free! Free sounds pretty frugal to me!

I’ll be back on Meal Plan Monday with the weekly newsletter for my Frugal Friends. Tuesday I will post more of my usual content for you. If you’re looking for something to do while you are staying at home besides reading, check out my YouTube channel! This week’s video is on Starting a Budget, so if you don’t have one already be sure to check it out!

Until then, stay frugal, stay healthy, and stay home my friends!

  1. Oooh, some of these look good – I-ll have tp add them to my book list.

  2. I like the sound of the Minimalist room by room decluttering one – although I should probably start with my bookshelves and TBR piles, haha! Good luck with your 2020 reading list 🙂

    1. Decluttering room by room is soooo therapeutic!

  3. This looks like a great list of books to read this year! I really enjoy books on blogging as they are usually full of useful hints and tips to put to good use. I’ve not heard of Ruth Soukup’s book before, so will definitely add it to my list! Thanks for sharing and happy reading! <3 xx

    1. Thank you Bexa! I really need to get on this list!

  4. I also love reading. While most of my reading is for pleasure, I do enjoy picking up non-fiction books and learning something new. There are some interesting sounding books on this list and I could see myself reading a few of these. I hope you are able to find the time to read all of these.
