March is just around the corner! Now is the time to go over some potential March expenses to include in your new monthly budget.

POTENTIAL MARCH EXPENSES YOU DON’T WANT TO FORGET:
- Class Parties – If you plan to contribute to the festivities make sure to include this potential March expense in your budget.
- Spring Break – Planning a road trip or need to cover additional childcare expenses? Make sure it’s included in the budget!
- Activity Fees & Supplies – Sports season is gearing up soon; that means registration fees as well as potential equipment and gear purchases. If you have kids who plan to participate, be sure it’ll fit in the budget before making any promises! We’ve got two in sprung sports, and they both need new or bigger equipment, so you best believe it’s in the budget!
- Sinking Funds – Don’t forget these little lifesavers! Be it a home or auto down payment, vacation, Christmas, or other funds, don’t forget to contribute!
- Clothing – We’re gearing up for a change of seasons, which typically means the kids will need a few additions to their wardrobes. By setting money aside now before the next growth spurt and/or weather change the dent in your wallet will be much less stressful when the time comes to start shopping. Budgeting in advance also gives you the ability to start browsing second-hand stores and online listings for great bargains. You can also start setting cash aside for yard sale season.
- Gardening & Other Outdoor Expenses – Whether you plan to have a windowsill herb garden or a backyard bounty, there is an initial investment needed in order to get started. Late February/ Early March is a great time to start planning your green thumb ambitions and making sure they fit in the budget.

Great points! It is so hard to budget right now with energy prices increasing.
Great points! February has turned out to be an expensive month for me. I didn’t anticipate an increase in my home insurance plus the cost of replacing the fence (which is in horrible shape so no surprise there). I’m definitely scrutinizing our March budget. Thanks for the school activities reminder.
